1. Who We Are
KindPlate ("we," "us," or "our") is a physician-authored medical nutrition publication operated by Mazhar Khan, MD. The website at trykindplate.com publishes long-form articles, premium digital guides, curated product recommendations, and a weekly email newsletter.
This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and what choices you have.
2. Information We Collect
Information you give us directly
- Email address — when you subscribe to the KindPlate newsletter, you give us your email so we can send the weekly brief.
- Purchase information — if and when you buy a digital guide, your name, email, and payment details are processed by our third-party payment provider. KindPlate does not store your full credit card information on our own servers.
- Messages you send us — if you email us at hello@trykindplate.com, we receive whatever you choose to share.
Information collected automatically
- Standard analytics — pages visited, approximate location (city/region from IP), browser type, device type, time on site. Collected through Google Analytics 4.
- Cookies — small data files stored in your browser for analytics, session continuity, and ad-tracking pixel functionality. You can disable cookies in your browser settings.
- Affiliate click tracking — when you click an affiliate link on KindPlate, the destination merchant may set their own tracking cookies and track the referral back to KindPlate. We do not control those merchant tracking systems; review the linked merchant's own privacy policy for their practices.
3. How We Use Your Information
- To send you the weekly KindPlate newsletter (only if you have subscribed)
- To deliver digital guides you have purchased
- To respond to messages you send us
- To understand how readers use the site (which articles are read, where readers come from) so we can write better content
- To detect and prevent fraud or abuse
4. How We Share Your Information
KindPlate does not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We share information only in the following limited situations:
- Service providers — we use third parties to operate the site, including a website host (Netlify), an email newsletter platform, a payment processor for digital guide purchases, and analytics tools. These providers handle your data only on our instructions and only as needed to provide their service.
- Affiliate merchants — when you click an affiliate link, you are leaving KindPlate's site and entering the merchant's site. We do not transfer your personal information to those merchants. If you make a purchase, the merchant collects whatever information they need under their own privacy policy.
- Legal compliance — we may disclose information if required by law, subpoena, or to protect the safety, rights, or property of KindPlate, our readers, or the public.
5. Your Choices
- Newsletter unsubscribe — every newsletter email contains an unsubscribe link. One click ends future emails. We do not delay unsubscribes.
- Cookies — you can disable or delete cookies through your browser. Some site features may not work fully without them.
- Access, correction, deletion — you can email hello@trykindplate.com to request a copy of the personal information we hold about you, request corrections, or request deletion. We will respond within 30 days.
- Do Not Track — we do not currently respond to browser Do Not Track signals because there is no industry-standard interpretation of what they require.
6. Children's Privacy
KindPlate is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
7. Not Medical Advice and Not a HIPAA-Covered Entity
KindPlate publishes general medical nutrition information for educational purposes. The site is not a healthcare provider, does not provide medical care, and is not a HIPAA-covered entity. While we take reasonable measures to protect the personal information you share with us, the privacy protections of HIPAA do not apply to information shared with KindPlate. Any clinical questions should be directed to your own physician.
8. Data Security
We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect personal information from loss, misuse, and unauthorized access. No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. International Visitors
KindPlate is operated from the United States. If you visit from outside the U.S., your information is processed in the U.S. and other countries where our service providers operate, which may have different privacy laws than your country of residence.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, notify newsletter subscribers by email.
